How to solve the dead-clown puzzle in Endacopia
Which clowns are dead, and why does one hit not solve the puzzle?
Hit RED, MAGENTA, PURPLE and YELLOW until each one becomes a gravestone. Do not touch blue, orange, teal or green. The gravestone is your stop signal. Solving the board awards the Scalpel; take it to the Medical Tent and finish the operation to get the Red Ball.
Check first
- The machine and the cinema are separate interactions. The cinema explains the color clue; the machine is where you submit the answer.
- Do not rely on a fixed hit count. A target is finished only when its position changes into a gravestone.
- Magenta means the bright pink-purple target. Purple means the darker purple target. Both are part of the answer.
What to do
- Read the clue in the cinemaSit in the colored seats to see each clown's film. The four films that end in death identify the targets to hit.
- Hit the red targetReturn to the whack-a-clown machine and keep hitting red until that position changes into a gravestone.
- Hit magenta, purple and yellowRepeat the same action for the bright pink-purple, dark purple and yellow targets. Keep going until each position becomes a gravestone, then stop.
- Leave four colors untouchedDo not hit blue, orange, teal or green.
- Check the final boardThe machine should show gravestones only at red, magenta, purple and yellow. Solving the board awards the Scalpel.
- Take the Scalpel to the Medical TentFinish the operation there to receive the Red Ball. This reward sequence does not start the boss fight immediately.

Do not use the number of swings as your only check, especially if you tried the machine before visiting the cinema. Confirm the four gravestones on screen. If one is missing, check whether you confused magenta with the darker purple. After the machine is solved, finish the Medical Tent operation instead of stopping at the Scalpel. If Mellow says he cannot perform surgery, one current player report links that symptom to skipping the first doctor introduction; verify the opening medical scene before treating it as a build bug.

A September Steam report says skipping the first doctor introduction can leave Mellow unable to perform the later operation; that symptom is not independently confirmed, so it remains a troubleshooting caveat rather than a required step.
